Washington, D.C. — Tuesday, Congresswoman Uifaatali Amata announced she will be Vice Ranking Member for the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs (HVAC), and will serve once again on two key Veterans subcommittees for the 117th Congress — the Health Subcommittee and the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.

Ranking Member Mike Bost said, “I am excited that my friend, Rep. Amata Radewagen, will continue to serve as Vice Ranking Member for the House Veterans' Affairs Committee. Aumua and I have been serving together since we both came to Congress in 2015. Since then, she has been a constant advocate for our veterans, especially those in underserved areas like American Samoa. I look forward to continuing our work on behalf of all the men and women who have served in uniform.”

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work on behalf of our Veterans,” said Congresswoman Amata. “I appreciate working with Ranking Member Bost, who brings insight and leadership as a U.S. Marine Veteran, a firefighter, and a small businessman. My Subcommittee roles will focus directly on health care efforts and VA oversight to ensure services are available.”

The Health Subcommittee is Amata’s number one choice of subcommittee assignments because it works specifically on the health care issues and policies that matter most to Veterans. The Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee is tasked with the vital congressional oversight efforts of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) and its many services.

The House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs officially organized Thursday, Feb. 12, and began work at that time with the first Committee votes in the 117th Congress.
