Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA —  The American Samoa Community College Financial Aid Office is seeking local businesses and worksites to participate in the Federal Work-Study Program (FWS). This federally funded initiative provides part-time job opportunities for students that align with their academic fields and enhance their educational experience. 

The Federal Work-Study Program allows eligible students to gain valuable employment while pursuing their studies. It provides part-time job opportunities on campus and in the community, allowing students to earn money that can help offset educational expenses such as tuition, books, and other related costs. By participating in this program, students not only receive financial support but also gain essential job skills and work experience that will benefit their future careers.

To be considered for the Federal Work-Study Program, students must complete and submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application is a crucial step in determining eligibility for various forms of federal financial aid, including grants and work-study opportunities. Students are encouraged to apply at FAFSA.gov, where they can fill out the application at no cost.

The program offers a competitive hourly wage of $7.25, funded entirely through federal resources rather than participating businesses, alleviating any financial burden on employers. The FWS positions are available as part-time jobs, making them flexible for students' schedules, and they typically run through the end of the academic semester.  

Furthermore, students should note that federal guidelines require their work hours not to conflict with class schedules, ensuring academic responsibilities remain a priority.
