ASG Hawaii Office holds Town Hall meeting

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The ASG Hawaii Office hosted a town hall meeting at the Kanana Fou Church Hall on Thursday, Feb. 22, updating the Samoan community residing in Hawaii on the upcoming Samoan Heritage Festival slated for Ke’ehi Lagoon Park in June, as well as contacts for community engagement, health, financial literacy, and other areas of interest.

The Town Hall included an open forum where attendees had the opportunity to share their thoughts and actively participate in discussions.

The scheduled beginning date for the Samoan Heritage Fest is June 15th, according to the ASG Hawaii Office.

It will open with an Fa’aevagaia or Spiritual Night, and a church service will be held on June 16, 2024, followed by a Cultural or Aganu’u Night featuring local community performances on June 17.

The finale is on June 18th, and will be marked by an International Night, culminating the Heritage Festival with a celebration.

Of interest, the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts & Culture is convening in Hawaiʻi, June 6- 16, 2024. “Ho'oulu Lāhui: Regenerating Oceania” — honors Pasifika traditions and cultures and American Samoa is gearing up to participate in this world renown festival.
