Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — In a Sept. 20th memorandum, the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Tuimavave Tauapa’i Laupola informed cabinet members of the government’s Island Wide Clean-up for the month of August is set for Friday, Sept. 24th

And that all departments, agencies, offices and authorities are expected to participate in the monthly clean up.

The clean up was first initiated by the Lolo Administration, and is coordinated by the Island Wide Clean-up Committee (IWCC), which is co-chaired by the director of the American Samoa Environmental Protection Agency and the executive director of the American Samoa Power Authority.

“Your continued support of the IWCC is greatly appreciated. Your dedication and commitment to this initiative has helped to improve the beauty of our natural environment and the quality of life of our people,” he said. “Let’s continue to work together to Keep America Samoa Clean and Beautiful.”

Representatives of the IWCC have been making rounds this week on local radio stations, pushing this initiative for today. And the public is also encouraged to join by cleaning their own surroundings.
