Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — In a brief statement yesterday, ASG Treasurer Malemo L. Tausaga announced that tax refund for Batch #9 — for more than $5 million — will be released tomorrow, Friday, June 23.

A total of 1,879 taxpayers who filed on Mar. 7 to partial of Mar. 29, 2023  — for tax year 2022 — will be getting their refunds through direct deposits, the U.S Post Office or picked up at the Treasury’s Disbursing Office on the ground floor of the A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building (EOB) in Utulei.

Of the total of more than $5.32 million for Batch #9, Treasury says that over $2.81 million is funded with local revenues; $907,977 for the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) and more than $1.59 million in the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

ACTC and EITC portions of tax refunds are federally funded.

Treasury says that if you are expecting your refund and did not receive it, please call (633-4181) or visit the Tax Office on the ground floor of the EOB — for further information and assistance.

The latest tax refund batch comes as some tax payers who claim to be expecting a tax refund, posted on social media asking when ASG will release the next tax refund batch.

Local businesses, especially stores, are always happy and pleased when tax refunds are released, as this means new income for customers to use to buy their products.
