AYFS Matai’s heading to the championship game Saturday in San Diego

San Diego, CA — The AYFS Matai’s football team departed the territory Monday night, June 24th, for San Diego, CA where they have performed remarkably at the NYS National Championship Tournament.

In their first two games, the AYFS Matai’s have proven that they have what it takes to hang with the big boys.

Playing in the 14U division, the Matais defeated Team TMT Elite, 26-6.

They also trampled Team Ridge Army, 27-12.

The Matais take on Team San Diego United today; and win or lose, they have secured a spot in the championship game this Saturday, June 29th, thanks to their pair of victories earlier this week.

The team is composed of some of the territory’s best young football players. They are: John Afalava, Chan Ah-Loe, Saumani Alopopo, Sosene Asifoa III, Isaako Fa’atili, Wylan Faga, Nathaniel Fruean, Aukusitino Iulio, William Latu, Fune Malolo, Malo Mata’u, Olo Olo Jr., Chris Su’a, Mataio Suluai, Nicholas Tia, Nathan Toni, Patrick Tua, Miller Tuimaseve, Francis Vaofanua, and Fred Vili.

The team is scheduled to arrive back in the territory July 4th
