NMS ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa’s Advisory Council will meet in-person at the Tauese P.F. Sunia Ocean Center, on Wednesday, May 22, at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Items on the agenda include updates on Ocean Exploration Trust Mission, Council Charter and recruitment, and other program updates.

Those wishing to comment on agenda items may submit written testimonies at the Tauese P.F. Sunia Ocean Center in Utulei by Friday, May 17, 2024. Afterward, it is the submitter’s responsibility to provide sanctuary staff with the electronic documents for distribution to the council members in attendance.

Written comments may be emailed to tiara.drabble@noaa.gov. On the day of the meeting, oral testimony may be limited to three minutes per person, depending on time.

SNHU DEAN'S LIST

Astrid Faumuina of American Samoa has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s  Winter 2024 Dean's List. The winter terms run from January to May.

Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean's List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

SNHU PRESIDENT'S LIST

It is with great pleasure that Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) congratulates the following students on being named to the Winter 2024 President's List. The winter terms run from January to May.

Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the President's List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

The following students from American Samoa made the President’s List: Charis Tafaovale, Elisapeta Sagote, Vaioulu Leoso, Misi Leo, and Angelo Kline.

NGA ROUNDTABLE

Governor Lemanu P.S. Mauga attended the National Governor’s Association (NGA) Roundtable on Energy Resilience and Security for Territories and Island Communities in Honolulu, Hawaii earlier this month. He was joined by Governor Albert Bryan Jr. of the United States Virgin Islands, Governor Josh Green of Hawaii, energy and security leads from all five territories and Hawaii as well as invited federal partners.

As a participant in the roundtable, Governor Lemanu planned to discuss the unique energy security and resilience challenges shared by Island communities and learn from our territorial counterparts on how American Samoa can better prepare for emergencies and natural disasters.
