Washington, D.C. — Thank you to each Veteran and each of our military families for the sacrifices you’ve made over the years, helping make our world a better and more peaceful place for generations,” Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata said in a press release issued on Wednesday.

“We appreciate our Veterans and their leadership in our community. On this Veterans Day, let us come together with gratitude to honor our nation’s brave men and women, thinking especially of our Toa o Samoa. American Samoa has built a strong tradition of service, and each Veteran helped build our reputation in the U.S. Armed Forces. Each Veteran has worn a uniform of our nation’s military in the great cause of freedom. They made our islands proud, and especially their families, as they served with dedication.

“Our country has a lasting, lifelong commitment to our Veterans, and I’m humbled to work in Congress as Vice Chairman of the Committee to oversee the VA as they seek to improve services, reduce backlogs, find solutions, better assist disabled veterans, and build on health care and mental health options for our Veterans.

“Finally, as people of faith, we know our freedom is a gift from God, who has led our Veterans as they helped ensure that we have enjoyed the blessings of liberty.”
