Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The COVID-19 Vaccination card is given the “Official Vaccination” stamp by the Health Department showing that the holder of the card is now fully vaccinated with two doses. A yellow sticker “I GOT MY COVID-19 VACCINE” is placed on the card and the person is also given a pin, with the same information, after they receive their 2nd dose.

Local residents, including a Samoa News staffer, who showed up last Friday at the Gov. H. Rex Auditorium for their second doses, got the Official Vaccination stamp from DoH medical personnel.

The COVID-19 Task Force continues to urge all residents, who qualify, to get vaccinated.  While, DoH staffers also call residents to remind them that their second dose is due.

The task force announced following a meeting early last week that travelers wishing to enter or leave American Samoa will be required to provide proof that they have been vaccinated for COVID-19. This will not apply to travelers that are too young to be vaccinated or those who are not medically qualified to be vaccinated. Those who cannot be vaccinated will need to be quarantined for a longer time. Children who are quarantined will need a parent or guardian to accompany them.

The move is aimed at increasing the vaccination rate for American Samoa which would boost protection of residents from the virus should it reach our shores. (See Samoa News edition last Friday for details.)
