Flags in American Samoa have been flying at half-staff since yesterday, June 22 and will remain at half-staff through today, June 23 following an order by Gov. Lemanu P. S. Mauga, “as a show of respect for former Senator Gaea Pelefoti Faulautusi, who passed away in recent weeks.”

“As we reflect on the life of Gaea Pelefoti Faulautusi, let us remember his honorable service to our territory as Senator,” the governor pointed out.

“Let us also take a moment to be grateful for all the great leaders who have helped preserve the tenets and ideals of our democracy,” the governor said.

A family funeral announcement aired Wednesday on KVZK-TV states that the final funeral service is scheduled for today in Vaitogi followed by burial at his home.

Gaea served one four-year term in office for Tualauta and he is also a former ASG Treasurer. He is the father of First Lady, Ella Failautusi Mauga.
