Gov Lemanu commends directors for successful Flag Day celebration
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Gov. Lemanu Peleti Palepoi Sialega Mauga, in a memorandum on Wednesday, expressed appreciation and “Fa’afetai Tele Lava” to cabinet members for a successful 2021 Flag Day, which was a scaled down celebration.
On behalf of Lt. Gov. Talauega Eleasalo Ale and the administration, “I extend our well-wishes and congratulations to all of the ASG departments, authorities and agencies for the success of the 121st Flag Day for American Samoa,” the governor wrote to cabinet members.
“We are truly grateful and appreciative for your diligence, collaboration and commitment in ensuring a safe and momentous celebration for our island territory,” he said, adding that the effort put into maintenance and decoration of the roadsides did not go unnoticed as “it is a clear sense of patriotism and pride that we have in our home and our relationship with the United States of American.”
The governor sent out special recognition to the Agriculture Department, Arts Council, Department of Marine and Wildlife Resources, American Samoa Visitor’s Bureau and all organizers of the International Farm Fair and the Flag Day Fishing Tournament.
“Our administration continues to promote the idea of ‘Buy Local’, as Lieutenant Governor Talauega and I believe that we must foster self-sufficiency by supporting our local farmers and fishermen,” he pointed out.
“We look forward to the next farm fair and fishing tournament in celebration of the 117th Manu’a Cession Day in July,” the governor said. “Thank you again for your continued support and prayers for our government as we move forward.”
