Governor’s and Medicaid offices team up to support local patient
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Lieutenant Governor Pulumataala Ae Ae Jr., took the lead when the Governor’s Office intervened recently to provide immediate Medicaid assistance to Mrs. Sherry Ho Chee.
According to a press release, senior staff from the Governor’s Office worked in close coordination with the American Samoa Medicaid Office to ensure Mrs. Ho Chee received the urgent medical care she needed. Their efforts led to the rapid processing of Medicaid arrangements, allowing Mrs. Ho Chee to begin her first procedure at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu.
“This would not have been possible without your advocacy and the efforts of your staff in navigating the Medicaid process on my behalf,” Mrs. Ho Chee said in a heartfelt letter addressed to the Lt. Governor.
In her letter, Mrs. Ho Chee expressed deep appreciation for the compassion, professionalism, and unwavering support shown to her during this challenging time:
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being such amazing, compassionate people who truly make a difference in the lives of others… Your kindness and commitment have lifted an immense burden off my shoulders, and I am endlessly grateful for your care and support.”
She also extended her gratitude to the Medicaid Office for their swift response and kind assistance, which were instrumental in coordinating her care and travel arrangements.
