Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Even though the Tropical Storm Warning has been downgraded to a Wind Advisory, expect breezy conditions through tonight. However, damaging winds will remain south of American Samoa and will not impact the territory. **Tropical Storm Wasi is no longer a threat to American Samoa.

The Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for American Samoa through Sunday morning. The numerous showers, which could be heavy at times, may lead to flash flooding in the region. Due to the amount of rain that we have had this week, any additional heavy rain may trigger more mudslides along the territory.

As an active monsoon trough continues to linger near our islands, our office here at your local weather station has been diligently monitoring for not only tropical cyclone development within our area of responsibility (within 300 nautical miles). There is currently no other tropical systems after TS WASI for now.

Meanwhile the Weather Service is monotoring for systems of heavy rains that could result in flash flooding and non-tropical cyclone systems that could bring damaging winds like that of this past Sunday night to our territory. It is why we continue to advise the public to expect drastic changes in our present weather as we've experienced this past week due to this extremely active monsoonal trough. \

Again, for now, there is no tropical system behind Wasi BUT we should continue to remain alert and prepared through April as we are still in our Hurricane Season.

Continue to stay tune for the latest weather update straight from our office and feel free to contact us at 699-9130 for more information.

EARLIER TODAY

Even though damaging winds from Tropical Storm Wasi have remained to the south of American Samoa, heavy rain and breezy conditions are expected throughout the morning and early this afternoon.

A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for all islands of American Samoa. Plenty of rain fell overnight last night. The additional frequent rain forecast for today will increase the risk of mudslides throughout the territory.

The Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect through early this afternoon.
