Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — As our Territory prepares for the 2023 Flag Day celebration, our American Samoa Tennis Association (ASTA) Junior Tennis players ages 10-14 years old, Coaches, and parents will not be here to enjoy the festivities. Friday, April 14, 2023, they will be traveling to compete in this year’s International Tennis Federation (ITF) East Pacific Region Championship Qualifying Tournament in Apia, Samoa from April 17-22, 2023. The East Pacific region event will consist of players from Cook Islands, Tahiti, Tonga, Samoa and Norfolk Islands.

Our Junior Tennis Team consists of a total of 11 players: under 12 years old (3), Under 14 years old (8). Our players have been practicing hard every day the past year and are excited to be part of this tournament. The tournament will give them a unique opportunity to showcase their athletic talents and a chance to represent American Samoa in the Pacific Oceania Junior Championship later in July 2023 in Nadi, Fiji, if they qualify.

This year our Junior Tennis Program tried a new approach to raise funds for our players by creating an online Fundraising page with www.gogetfunding.com. Support poured in from Family, Friends, former Junior Tennis Players and ASTA member near and far. ASTA President Taimalelagi Dave Godinet, Coaches, and players would like to thank all who lent a helping hand and made monetary donations. Your support made this trip possible for our young tennis Stars.

A special THANK YOU to CEO Justin Tuiasosopo and Blue Sky for always supporting our Junior Tennis Program and sponsoring our team uniform for this Tournament. A special THANK YOU also to Papalii Laulii Alofa and Paramount Builders, Inc. for your generous donation to support our players. Finally a big THANK YOU to ASTA Federation for your donation to our team and coaches. Faafetai, faafetai tele lava. GO TEAM AM. SAMOA!!!
