Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A 32-year-old man accused of using a rock to cause head injuries to a juvenile has pled guilty in court.

Aleki Logo was initially charged with felony first degree assault, punishable by life in prison or at least 30 years in jail; but under a plea agreement with the government, the defendant pled guilty to second degree assault, still a felony, but punishable by no more than 5 years imprisonment, or a fine of not more than $5,000 or both.

With his guilty plea, Logo admits that sometime on Feb. 12, 2020 he caused serious injuries to an indidual, who is his neighbor by using a rock to hit him on the head several times.

The government claims that the victim suffered a severe cut on his head, which needed 12 stitches. Logo and the victim were drinking together when the incident occurred. The government claims that Logo got mad at the victim and used a rock to assault him.

Logo remains in custody in jail unable to post a $10,000 surety bond. He’s scheduled to appear in court next month for sentencing.
