Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On November 27, 2025, according to the court affidavit, at approximately 2:30 pm, the Fagatogo Police Station (FPS) received a call from the LBJ attending physician in Fagaalu reporting that there were two deceased persons at the LBJ Emergency Room. He requested assistance in the matter.

At around 3:30 pm, an Asian man, later identified as Guofeng Tan (suspect), walked into the FPS to turn himself in. At that time, the suspect spontaneously stated that he had killed someone earlier.

The Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau (CIIB) was contacted regarding the matter, and they proceeded to the LBJ Hospital.

The officers later met with an Asian female (later identified as the witness) and interviewed her. According to the witness (through a translator), victim #1 called her to go out to lunch. She picked her up from the H & L Store in Nu'uuli in a van, and they headed towards Coconut Point, where they parked behind the CCCAS's Hall.

Upon arrival at the spot, they opened the van's back doors, and victim #1 brought out food and set it on the van's floor. The witness continued that a man (later identified as victim #2) joined them and they started eating.

At this time, victim #1's husband, Tan, showed up, opened the driver's side door, and saw them in the back of the van. The suspect closed the door, went to the back, and stepped into the van holding a knife.

The witness explained that they stood together beside the passenger seat, and Tan was saying something to victim #1 that she didn't understand.

She stated that Tan stabbed victim #2 in his left side, and victim #1 begged Tan to stop. However, Tan stabbed victim #1's right thigh.

The witness said that she was scared and shocked and begged the suspect to call for the ambulance because the victims were bleeding out.

Tan told her to shut up or else he was going to stab her, too.

Tan demanded that she get something to tie victim #1's thigh to stop the bleeding, but it didn't work. The witness continued that the suspect cut the seatbelt from the passenger's side and gave it to her to tie up victim #1's wound, but it didn't help.

The witness further explained that Tan then told her to drive the van to drop off the victims at the hospital. He in turn walked out of the van and closed the back door. She stated that she drove the van straight to the hospital while Tan followed her to the hospital.

Tan later turned himself in to the FPS, and authorities requested a translator for him.

He was Mirandized, where he agreed and willingly gave a statement.

According to Tan, it was last August that he found out on his wife's (victim #1) phone that she had been having an affair with victim #2. He admitted that he begged his wife to stop contacting victim #2, and she promised him that they would stop.

Tan claimed he also spoke to victim #2 and told him he loves his family and his wife. However, he found out a couple of times that they were still calling each other.

Tan also mentioned that he spoke with victim #2 twice in person, and the third time he called him. However, victim #2 told him to do whatever he wants, and they don't care about how he feels.

He continued that earlier on November 27, 2025, it was their second daughter's birthday. He woke up at 6 am to open the store and went back to sleep at about 7 am. At around 8 am, his wife woke him up and told him that she was going to buy some stuff from the wholesaler. He told his wife to come back by noon because he had ordered a cake for their daughter's birthday, and he wanted to pick it up.

Tan stated that his wife didn't return in time and he called her to ask where she was. Tan claimed that his wife became mad and told him not to question her.

She told Tan that she was going to pick up the cake. However, they later received a call from her (the wife), who said she was hanging out with victim #2 at Coconut Point and wouldn't be coming back.

The suspect admitted he was distraught and borrowed a car, driving to Coconut Point to find his wife. When he got there, he saw his van parked next to victim #2's car.

The suspect stated that he was angry, and then he remembered he had a knife in the van under the driver's seat. He opened the van's driver's door, grabbed his knife, and walked to the back of the van. Tan said that he saw the victims sitting so close together, while the witness was sitting on the other side.

Tan continued that when victim #2 saw him coming inside the van with the knife, he stood up and tried to jump on him, and in return he stabbed him.

Victim #2 then backed up, grabbed a basket, and threw it at him. Tan said that he was hurt, and he stabbed victim #2 again.

When victim #1 tried to stop him, he accidentally stabbed her.

Tan also argued that he wasn't planning to kill anyone and that he was just trying to scare them.

Tan further stated that he told the witness to drive the victims to the hospital, and then he came straight to the police station. He also corroborated the witness's statement that he made her tie up victim #1's leg because it was bleeding badly. Tan said that he cut the seatbelt to tie victim #1's leg.

Tan's clothes were covered in blood, and were secured to preserve the evidence pending a search warrant.

The suspect also gave the authorities the knife when he turned himself in. The knife was approximately 10in long with a steel blade. The knife was secured and taken as evidence.

On November 27, 2025, the attending physician for victim #1 was interviewed at the LBJ ER. According to victim #1's physician, victim #1 was pronounced dead at about 3:34 pm. The physician explained that victim #1 sustained a stab wound on the right thigh, and it was about 6 centimeters in length. The doctor examined the wound and found it consistent with a sharp-object injury. The doctor also stated that the cause of death for victim #1 was hemorrhagic shock, caused by the excessive loss of blood.

The attending physician for victim #2 stated that victim #2 was pronounced dead at about 3:31 pm. He noted that the cause of death was ruled as hypovolemic shock, which is caused by blood loss. The doctor explained that victim #2 sustained multiple penetrating injuries on the left side of his chest. He stated that the two stab wounds on the left are about 1.5 cm to 2 cm in length.

Moreover, there was a deep abrasion on victim #2's left thigh and a stab wound on his right mid arm.

The incident occurred near the CCCAS Hall in Nuuuli and inside a blue van registered to victim #1. The van is currently secured at the DPS headquarters in Fagatogo pending a search warrant.

The suspect was booked and transported to the Tafuna Correctional Facility for confinement to await the next available sitting of the District Court.
