Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — ASG Treasurer Malemo Tausaga, in a brief statement yesterday afternoon, announced that the seventh batch of tax refunds — of more than $740,00 — is scheduled for release today, Friday, Apr. 9th

“Remainder of taxpayers who filed on Feb. 3, 2021 and numerous filers on Feb. 4, 2021” with mailing addresses will receive their checks in the mail today, says Malemo.

As per usual, taxpayers without mailing addresses can pick up their checks at theTreasury Disbursing Office on the ground floor of the A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building — where social distancing and wearing a face mask is encouraged.

A total of 430 taxpayers are covered in the 7th batch of fund checks.

Of the total of $740,831 in tax refunds, $287,610 is paid from locally collected funds and $453,221 is from the Additional Child Tax Credit, which is funded by the US Internal Revenue Service.

If you are expecting a tax refund and did not receive it, visit the Tax Office and have the following documents on hand so that the Tax Office can provide service expeditiously:

•           copy of your tax return

•           a valid form of identification

•           social security card — and also for the spouse if married filing jointly.

Even before the official announcement came from Malemo, word had already spread late yesterday morning, through the coconut wireless that refunds checks will be distributed today.
