National Marine Sanctuary seeks volunteers for advisory council

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa is looking for volunteers to represent the public’s interests in sanctuary matters and provide advice to the sanctuary superintendent.

The sanctuary is accepting applications for the following seats:

  • •          Education
  • •          Ocean Recreation/Ecotourism
  • •          Business
  • •          Community-at-Large: Tutuila West Area
  • •          Community-at-Large: Manu’a Islands
  • •          Community-at-Large: Aunu’u Island
  • •          Community-at-Large: Swains Island
  • •          Youth

The advisory council is composed of 17 voting members and eight non-voting members, who serve on a volunteer basis and represent a variety of local user groups, the public, and territorial and federal governmental jurisdictions.

Applications will be accepted through August 23, 2024. Applications not received or postmarked by August 23, 2024 will not be considered.
