Ofu Island, MANU'A — This photo by Department of Port Administration engineer, Natalia Palamo, posted to the department’s Facebook page shows a crew from Paramount Builders Inc., continuing their construction work on the Concrete Runway Reconstruction Project at Ofu Airport in the Manu’a island group.

DPA says that demolition of the old concrete runway has been completed. Preparation of the subgrade and base course layers is 75% complete, and they started pouring concrete last week.

“Thank you to the residents of Ofu and Olosega for your continued patience and support, as we strive to complete this important project for our islands,” said Port Administration.

Contractor for the project — funded with a grant award from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvements Project Grant (AIP) - is Paramount Builders while construction manager is PPG Consultants.  The airport has been closed since Apr. 19th for the construction work.
