Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The latest member of the American Samoa Economic Development Authority approved for membership, is Director of Port Administration, Falenaoti Loi-On Fruean.

The recent Senate vote was unanimous.

The vote follows a brief hearing where Senator Soliai Tuipine said that Mrs Loi On-Fruean is continuing the tenure of her predecessor, the late Christopher King and that her wealth of experience speaks volume.

It was confirmed during the hearing last week that matters pertaining to the ASEDA were on hold as there was no quorum, according to Senator Magalei Logovii who is also a member of the ASEDA Board.

Magalei noted that Mrs Loi On-Fruean climbed the ladder in her career and is now head of the Port Administration, which admirable.

Earlier this month, the Senate also confirmed the Governor’s chief legal counsel, Terry Van Eaton on the ASEDA board of directors. He replaces former counsel, Jason Mitchell.

Van Eaton most recently served as Director of Compliance with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. In that role, he was responsible for the auditing needs of the agency and all its state and federally funded programs.

Prior to that, he was an attorney with the Nebraska Department of Revenue handling tax disputes and litigation. According to the Administration, Van Eaton “brings valuable legal and financial experts to the Board.”
