Positive COVID tests push release of quarantined travelers to Monday
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — During a Zoom session yesterday, the Health Department confirmed that 15 travelers from the Jan. 27 flight from Honolulu have tested positive for COVID-19, according to a traveler on the same flight who is in quarantine.
These are the results from the second test, carried out yesterday morning and shared by DoH during a Zoom session with travelers in the three quarantine sites. The positive cases were from travelers quarantined at Fatuoaiga facility and DoH Alternate Care Facility (ACF).
With the high number of cases, DoH said in the Zoom session that those tested positive are in isolation and travelers in quarantine will be released on Monday.
A traveler quarantined at Fatuoaiga said they were surprised with the last-minute announcement.
The original date for release from quarantine was set for today.
