Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A high mortality rate among patients of the dialysis unit at American Samoa's LBJ hospital have been highlighted as one of several concerns in a new report.

The health advisory group, that worked to resolve greivances on behalf of renal disease patients, had reported back to privately-owned Hope Dialysis.

The report came after Hope Dialysis raised concerns about the unit.

The advisory group says it reviewed medical records and found the facility's mortality rate is 1.47, which was 47 percent more deaths than expected.

The group identified other areas for improvement, while the LBJ was now conducting a review of its work.
