Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The House of Representatives is calling out to the American Samoa Government COVID-19 Task Force to hold another island wide exercise to test the territory’s readiness for the repatriation flight next week, Monday, Feb. 1st. Vice Speaker Fetu Fetui Jr made this request during the House session this past Monday.

Fetu requested a second island wide exercise for the medical staff and first responders in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as masks, full body white suits, face shields and so forth.

The House Vice Speaker informed faipule that he’s still not sure if the territory is ready for the arrival of the first repatriation flight. He wants the Task Force to postpone it to a later time until the territory is ready.

The first island-wide exercise was held yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, January 26 from 2p.m- 4p.m to test the territory’s readiness for the arrival of the first repatriation flight next Monday.

During last week’s house hearing, members of the Task Force urged the public to stay calm on Tuesday when hearing ambulances and police car sirens in the area between Pago Pago International Airport and Tradewinds Hotel or Tafuna Community Health Center and the LBJ Hospital.

More on the island wide readiness exercise later this week.
