SBA approves just over $3 million in disaster low interest loans
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — As of Monday this past week, the US Small Business Administration had approved 212 disaster loan applications for businesses and residents that were impacted by Tropical Storm Gita, says SBA public information officer, Yolanda Stokes.
The approved low interest loan amount has reached $3.1 million and “we continue to process disaster loan applicants as we receive them,” said Stokes on Monday before she returned yesterday to her duty station in Sacramento, California after being in the territory for the past few months following the storm in February this year.
“Your beautiful island has been my temporary home for the past few months and the beautiful people of American Samoa have adopted me as their own. I have met so many people that I now consider to be my extended family,” she said. “This has truly been a blessed time for me and I will always remember you all.”
May 1st, at 4 p.m. was the deadline to submit applications for federal assistance at the Disaster Recovery Center, located inside the DYWA Pago Pago Youth Center. The Help Line is 699-2018 if you have questions about your registration or mail you have received.
