Special Bulletin: Counterfeit currency circulating

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The American Samoa Department of Homeland Security is warning all businesses and banks that counterfeit currency is circulating in the territory and urges heightened vigilance to combat this illicit activity.

A bulletin issued Thursday afternoon said “movie-prop /counterfeit money is being used for purchases in our territory.”

AS-DHS asks that the public be vigilant and report any instances of the fraudulent currency immediately to the Dept. of Public Safety (633-1111) or to the Dept. of Homeland Security EOC (699-3800).
