Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The third batch of tax refund checks for 2022 tax filers — totaling more than $3.2 million will be released today — Tuesday, Mar. 28, said Treasurer Malemo Tausaga in a brief statement yesterday afternoon.

According to the statement, a total of 1,022 taxpayers who filed on Feb. 07 to “partial” Feb. 09 will be getting their refunds through direct deposits, the U.S Post Office and pick up at the Treasury’s Disbursing Office on the ground floor of the A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building (EOB) in Utulei.

Of the total of more than $3.27 million for Batch #3, Treasury says that more than $2.19 million is funded with local revenues; $896,875 for the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) and $190,965 in the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

The ACTC and EITC portions of tax refunds are federally funded.

Treasury says that if you were expecting your refund and did not receive it, please call (633-4181) or visit the Tax Office — the ground floor of the EOB — for further information and assistance.

The release of Batch #3 comes at a time when the cannery is closed for major upgrades and workers — who are expecting refunds — will be pleased.
