Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — LBJ Medical Center — in a spirit of Thanksgiving — celebrated the 100th successful total knee replacement surgery at the hospital.

The event marks the number of patients who received this medical procedure, officially started in October 2019 at the hospital led by Elder Dr. Edwards as part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints Medical Mission to American Samoa.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints, Sister Peggy Ann Haleck and her husband Elder Vince Haleck, along with  Elder Dr. John Edwards — a US Certified Orthopedic Surgeon — and his wife, Sister Rebecca Edwards, a Licensed Social Worker pose for a photo during LBJ Medical Center’s celebration.

Also pictured (standing in no particular order) are Elder Dr. Gregory Patch, a Radiologist and his wife, Sister Janene Patch , a  Licensed Practical Nurse; along with Elder Dr. Robert Keddington, an Emergency Physician and his wife,  Sister Sue Belle Keddington, a Behavioral Health Specialist — and two others.

The physicians and their wives are serving at the hospital without pay as part of the LDS Church’s Medical Mission to American Samoa. See Samoa News edition Friday for story.
