Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — “A recent upgrade to our system was causing the store purchasing option to frequently drop and show a system error.”

This is according to the American Samoa Power Authority Management, Ryan Tuato’o in a statement released on Sunday evening in response to Samoa News questions after complaints about their “CashPower“or debit meter vendor system went down last week Tuesday.

“ASPA sincerely apologizes to customers for the inconvenience this has caused. ASPA's online option for purchasing debit meter tokens is working fine.

“Customers can use their PayPal accounts or a credit card option to purchase debit meter tokens. I know TBAS had an internet issue on Friday 3/17/23, as noted on their FB page, but ASPA cannot speak on why TBAS card customers were not able to use the online option to purchase debit meter tokens,” says Tuato’o.

He said they have received reports from customers regarding not being able to use their TBAS cards when purchasing online.

“ASPA's store option for purchasing debit meter was having technical difficulties this past week and our IT team has been working with the respective vendors on a fix.

“A recent upgrade to our system was causing the store purchasing option to frequently drop and show a system error.

“A system fix was implemented last week Thursday, but it was reported to be dropping again this weekend.

“Customers that called for help were encouraged to use the online option if they had a credit card or were helped over the phone if they only had cash.

“The ASPA IT team will be doing a system upgrade tonight Sunday 3/19/23 at 10pm to fix the store purchasing option and we hope this fix will improve our service to our customers

“Again, ASPA sincerely apologizes to customers for the inconvenience this has caused.”

As reported yesterday, vendors said the ASPA system was not working and that customers had to purchase CashPower only in person from ASPA or with overseas credit cards.

A family on the east side told Samoa News that they reached out to their lawmaker addressing this issue and their faipule had to purchase the CashPower for them.
