Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — ALL public schools are once again closed for Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021 — today — due to impending weather conditions, according to the DOE Director. All school staff and faculty are to report to work as usual.

The South Pacific Academy has also announced it will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 23rd. All teachers need not report or come in.

The National Weather Service Pago Pago is still monitoring strong winds and heavy rainfall along the vicinity of American Samoa through midday Tuesday as Tropical Disturbance 10F remains to the west/southwest of the Territory.

The Fiji Meteorological Service has a very low chance of the disturbance strengthening. However, the High Wind Warning, High Surf Warning, Gale Warning, and the Flash Flood Watch remains in effect as current satellite imagery and model data indicates elevated winds and rainfall closer to that region. We will continue to closely monitor the exact track of the disturbance as it is moves southeast.
