Weather Report: This week likely to be a wet one

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The skies were dark and gloomy all day yesterday (Monday) as the rain came pouring down. Locals are reminded that we are currently in Hurricane Season. This past Sunday, the US National Weather Service, Pago Pago, Am. Samoa is forcasting that this week will be rainy with winds increasing Thursday and Friday. “An extended period of rain is expected over American Samoa this week. Some locally heavy rainfall is possible through Friday.”

Additionally, “trends continue to show an extended period of gusty winds are possible over the American Samoa Islands - Thursday through Saturday.”

“Possible weather hazards this week: Expect standing water on roads. Driving hazards increase during heavy rain, and watch for possible mudslides.”

Yesterday, a high surf advisory was in effect, with the highest surf along the northern coastlines.
