Michael Iosua joins the AGs Office

Assistant Attorney General Michael Iosua is the latest addition to the Attorney General’s office, working with the Civil Division. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii and attained his law degree from BYU J. Reuben Clark Law School.

Iosua is the son of Dorothea Templeman and Alvin Iosua from Pesega, Samoa. He was raised in Faleniu, and sworn in last Friday by Chief Justice Michael Kruse in the presence of his family members and colleagues.

Iosua told Samoa News that he has always wanted to live in the territory and felt a strong desire to come and serve the people of American Samoa. “After a few years of practicing law at a large regional law firm in Las Vegas, there was an opportunity to come back home.

”My wife and I felt that this was a good point in my career to move here and that it would be a good opportunity to let our kids experience their culture” he said. The newest Assistant AG said he’s very excited to work with Attorney General Fepulea’i Ripley, Deputy Attorney Generals Mitzie Jessop, Alo Ale and the other attorneys.

“It is nice to see talented Samoans in the legal profession” he said. “I have enjoyed my experience here so far and it has been great to make my way through the island and feel very connected to the land and the people here”.

Iosua, a former football player, is now also involved with helping coach the Leone High School football team and is very proud to see such great potential in the youth. He added that there is a lot that he can learn here and feels very privileged to serve in the government.

Iosua said it’s a huge responsibility to do what's best for the people of American Samoa and its citizens.
