HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -Olivia has maintained Category 1 hurricane strength in Central Pacific waters Saturday night.

At 11 p.m., Olivia was about 825 miles east of Hilo or 990 miles east of Honolulu.

The storm was packing maximum sustained winds of 80 mph with higher gusts, and is moving west at 16 mph.

By Tuesday, it's forecast to be a tropical storm off the Big Island.

The latest forecast has all of the main Hawaiian island in the 'cone of uncertainty,' meaning direct landfall is possible anywhere in the state.

"This general motion is forecast to continue for the next couple of days, with a west-southwestward turn anticipated by Tuesday," the National Hurricane Center said.

Forecasters also said the hurricane is expected to maintain strength into Monday night before weakening into a tropical storm as it gets close to the islands.
