Samoa police investigate homicide case, a sex case and attempted abduction

Apia, SAMOA — The Ministry of Police is investigating the death of a 30-year-old male of Sa’asa’ai.

Last Sunday the police responded to a homicide case at Pu’apu’a where it was confirmed that the deceased is a male of Sa’asa’ai.

A postmortem is scheduled to confirm the cause of death with investigations continuing. The matter will be referred to the coroner for a coronial inquiry.

A sexual violation case was also reported at Vaitoloa where a male of Vaitoloa and Tapatapao is suspected of having sexual connection with a 7-year-old female of Vaitoloa on November 9. The mother of the girl lodged a complaint with police the following day. Criminal charges are yet to be filed against the suspect.

An attempt abduction case has also been brought to the attention of the police, after a 36-year-old female of Vaitele Fou lodged a complaint against a male for attempting to abduct her 3-year-old daughter at Mulinuu. The suspect was taken to the police headquarters and his details obtained. Investigations are continuing. 

On November 10 Tuasivi police responded to a call from the Tuasivi Hospital of two men—a 44-year-old male of Vailoa Palauli and a 53-year-old male of Papapuleia—who were required medical attention. Both men have injuries, one with a cut on the right side of his head and forehead and the other with a deep cut on his right hand. One of the men was transferred to Motootua Hospital for further treatment due to the seriousness of his injuries. Police investigations are continuing and criminal charges are yet to be filed.
