Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Pacific Horizons School honored Mapu Jamias, owner and CEO of MJ Construction & Maintenance, at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the school’s new 2-classroom secondary building this week.

At the gathering, school director, Caroline Tuiolosega, acknowledged Jamias and MJ Construction & Maintenance for working around the clock to get the project completed during the months of June and July, before the new school year began.

Additionally, Jamias was thanked for his generous donation of $5,000 to the school. PHS Board Chair, Sonja Stanley, awarded Mr. Jamias an Ashley Award, a PHS award named after Mara Ashley, one of the school’s founders. This award is a new school tradition and is bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to PHS.

Tuiolosega said, “It was heart and fun that got this project finished. Mapu accepted the challenge and dropped everything to accomplish the task. He loved the challenge, and with hard work and a sense of delight, he stretched his carpenters and his workers. He stretched me, too, and I am so happy for it. Thank you for accepting the challenge and making it fun from day one. Your heart, your hard work, your generosity, and your positive attitude are what make you such a great leader. Thank you, Mapu Jamias, and thanks to MJ Construction & Maintenance!”
