Search for missing outrigger canoe crew continues in Pacific

HONOLULU - The search continues for two fishermen aboard an outrigger canoe missing near Fanning Island, Tuesday. Coast Guard rescue crews have been searching since Sunday for the 12-foot outrigger canoe.Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu watchstanders received a call from a search and rescue coordinator in Kiribati requesting assistance in the search for a 12-foot outrigger canoe with two people aboard.The fishermen departed from Fanning Island Saturday. The boat was last seen by another fishing boat Saturday at approximately 3 p.m. trying to haul in fish.A Coast Guard C-130 Hercules airplane from Air Station Barbers Point has covered 4,209 square miles since Sunday.
