OAKIE SALAVE'A

Before jumping into the winter strength and conditioning program at Colorado Universitty, Oakie Salave'a will be representing American Samoa and the Buffaloes at the 2022 Polynesian Bowl this Saturday evening. Salave'a arrived in Honolulu to begin preparation for the game on Monday.

"It means a lot to me because our kids back home, we don't get this opportunity that much," Salave'a said of being the only player from American Samoa in the all-star game. "It is rare, so I am thankful that the Lord has blessed me with this opportunity. It feels great to be back on the Islands and to feel the sun."

The Polynesian Bowl will kickoff at 5:30 pm (Am Samoa time) on Saturday with television coverage on CBS Sports Network.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Salave'a confirmed Colorado brought him in as an athlete that will tryout at quarterback at first but will play on defense "if that doesn't work out."
