Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Bodybuilder and 2012 Tafuna High School graduate Jr Iosefo is back in the game now with his pro card after resuming competition that was paused during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In 2020, when the COVID hit I decided to sit out the rest of the year while still trying to improve my physique to the next level. In 2021 I compete in Utah’s Salt Lake City championship June 11, where I was overall winner of the Mr. Salt Lake City title. In the same year I did my first national show in Orlando, Florida on December 18 where I placed in the top 3 — just one spot away from becoming a professional bodybuilder.

“In 2022, I competed on June 11, in San Diego where I placed in the top 2; and then 6 days later on June 17, I competed at the All Junior Nationals in Chattanooga, Tennessee where I won my class and earned my professional card — becoming the first American Samoan to become an IFBB Pro professional bodybuilder

The son of Lusia Maulolo Iosefo and Faaui Maulolo from the village of Nua and Seetaga graduated from Tafuna high school in 2012. Iosefo joined the military right after high school and started his bodybuilding career in 2017.

“My message to all the young generation and the upcoming generation is never stop chasing your dreams. Whatever you want in life you can get it, if you really put your mind into it with consistency and commitment. I can promise you, it’s just a matter of time and never doubt yourself.”
