Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — After their outstanding performances during the Pacific Oceania Junior Championships (POJC) held in Fiji in July 2024., Alexandria "Ula" Amoa and Joelei Ioane have been invited to participate in the 2025 ITF World Junior Tennis Competition, representing the Pacific Oceania World Junior Team.

The American Samoa Tennis Association (ASTA) announced the tournament features two stages:

● Asia Oceania Pre-Qualifying Event: February 17-22, 2025, in Isa Town, Bahrain.

● Asia Oceania Final Qualifying Event: April 2-7, 2025, in Kuching, Malaysia.

Eligibility to compete in the Final Qualifying Event will be determined by their performance and finishing position in Bahrain.

The selection of Joelei and Ula reflects their outstanding performances during the Pacific Oceania Junior Championships (POJC) held in Fiji in July 2024.

President Florence Wasko expressed her excitement about the growing opportunities for American Samoa’s junior athletes:

"The ASTA board is thrilled with the invitations that continue to recognize the hard work of our junior athletes, their coaches, and families. Over the past year, our athletes have proudly represented American Samoa in Hong Kong, Vanuatu, Australia, and now Bahrain. We are immensely proud of their success and their dedication to the sport."

Currently, Joelei and Ula along with other local junior tennis athletes are preparing intensively for the 2025 Pre-Qualifying Event in Apia, Samoa, which will take place during the first week of February.

This training serves as an essential step in ensuring they are ready to compete at the highest level in Bahrain.
