Amata's yearly Treat, an 11-year tradition
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Hundreds of kids showed up to take part in Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata's yearly Treat, an 11-year tradition at the end of every October. She was on hand to greet the lively crowd of Halloween tricksters last Friday at Fagatogo Square, sharing smiles, treats, and festive cheer with families and children from across the island.
"I might get to have even more fun than the kids," said Amata. "I love to see the younger ones so excited and older ones there having a good time with their friends. “They all have lots of energy already and we just add a bit of sugar to it, but it's a lasting fun memory for everyone.
“I appreciate all the parents bringing them by or letting them come out. There's no way to get a full count but it seems like an extra huge turnout this year, although we've never had a bad turnout. There's a lot of energy with all these children in one place. Thank you to my volunteers lending a hand and thank you American Samoa!"
