“Disrespectful” nephew allegedly strikes uncle in the head
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Fagaese Tamale is being held on bail of $10,000 in connection to an incident that occurred last week in Nu’uuli where the defendant is alleged to have struck his uncle with a metal jack.
The defendant is charged with second-degree and third-degree assault.
Tamale made his initial appearance in the District Court yesterday, which was conducted virtually. The investigating officer is in this case is Fualaau J. Liua.
According to the government’s case police received a call for assistance following the alleged assault case.
The victim told police that his nephew struck him on his head. Police proceeded to track down Tamale at his residence in Nuuuli, where he as apprehended and taken to the Tafuna Substation for further questioning.
The criminal complaint states that this is not the first encounter between Tamale and his uncle.
“Mr. Tamale [the victim] stated, the incident was very disrespectful and that he has had enough of his actions.
“They were having a family talk when [the victim] walked in and asked him for the fan and when the defendant’s father told him to leave the fan, it’s alleged the victim went inside his girlfriend's car and turned the music up really loud and was screeching his car tires in front of their house.
The victim came back inside the house, grabbed a basket with his clothes inside and walked out and further said he was taking his tools outside and Tamale followed him with a metal jack and struck the victim.
“He can't recall how many times,” says the criminal affidavit. The victim suffered an open wound in the back of his head (lower right side) along with an open wound on his cheekbone.
The victim was taken by EMS for treatment at the hospital.
