Gov-elect looks to collaborate with outgoing admin for smooth transition
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Governor-elect Pula Nikolao Pula sent a letter to the Gov. Lemanu P. S. Mauga and Lt. Gov. La’apui Talauega E.V. Ale asking for a meeting on Monday, November 25, 2024 to discuss issues of collaboration with the Lemanu Administration as the transition to the new administration happens.
In his letter, dated Nov. 20th, Pula states, “I am writing to express my heartfelt respect and appreciation for your dedication throughout this election campaign, as we say in our culture "E taa’alo tama ae o uso”.
“Your commitment to public service and your vision for our community has not gone unnoticed, and your efforts have undoubtedly made a meaningful impact on the democratic process, and we thank you.
“As we move forward, I want to assure you that Lt. Governor-Elect HC Pulu Ae Ae Jr and I are committed to working for the benefit of all the residents of American Samoa.
“I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with you, humbly request to meet with you November 25. 2024 at 10 am due to unforeseen travel obligations.
“Your voice is important, and I sincerely hope we can find ways to unite in serving our community's best interests.”
“Thank you once again for service and dedication.
“I wish you and the Honorable Lt. Governor La’apui Talauega Ale and your families continued success and prosperity in all your future endeavors.”
There has been no further information concerning the meeting and its outcomes from the Pula or Lemanu.
In the meantime, Samoa News notes that both Governor-elect Pula and Gov. Lemanu were on the Hawaiian Air flight Monday evening. Both men were seen conversing in the baggage area at the Honolulu Airport upon arrival of the flight.
