Lions Club of Pago Pago donates to repatriation effort in Hawaii

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The new Hawaii-Repatriation Medical Team received a surprise donation delivered to the American Samoa quarantine site, Ohana East Hotel in Hawaii on Friday, April 30.  The Lions Club of Pago Pago coordinated with the Hawaii- Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA) on delivering cases of medical supplies to support the American Samoa repatriation quarantine. 

“When the Lions Club was coordinating resources to be delivered to American Samoa, we heard the quarantine began for the 4th Repatriation,” said Lions Club president Tafa Tua-Tupuola.  “We reached out to the logistic manager, Ginger Porter of items needed and the request was submitted from the Lions Club to HI-EMA. Everything was delivered in two-days with the assistance of the National Guard.” 

Medical Lead, Dr. Ipo Tuinei-Hemaloto, confirmed receipt of the donated items to assist the repatriation effort.  The quantity of donations would assist with the repatriation for the entire summer. The Lions Club President said “We’re grateful for our relationship with HI-EMA and FEMA on their assistance with resources.”

Items donated are: Isolation gowns, coveralls, face shields, disposable surgical masks, KN95s, Safety goggles, N95s, buckets hand sanitizers, paper towels, and surgical gloves.
